TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) on Friday (Jan. 10) praised Taiwan's commitment to democracy and freedom through its Indigenous Defense Submarine program. Speaking at an event in Kaohsiung, Cho christened the 10th 600-ton Coast Guard vessel as the "Su'ao" (蘇澳艦) and expressed hope that Coast Guard personnel will continue to uphold public expectations and safeguard national sovereignty.
Cho, alongside Kuan Bi-ling (管碧玲), Minister of the Ocean Affairs Council, and Han Yu-lin (韓育霖), President of Jong Shyn Shipbuilding Company (中信造船), participated in the event. The premier extended his gratitude to coast guard personnel working during the Lunar New Year holiday, acknowledging their significant efforts during this busy period. Kuan highlighted Taiwan's responsibility to protect its surrounding seas, committing to advancing the development of coast guard vessels and offshore patrol ships.
