Court documents reveal Lo's family immigrated to Vancouver more than ten years ago, with his father dying shortly after their relocation. Local residents characterized his mother, Lisa, as kind-hearted despite witnessing regular verbal disputes between her and her son. Neighbors emphasized these confrontations never escalated to violence. The family suffered another tragedy last year when Lo's brother, Alexander, was murdered, prompting Lo to launch a GoFundMe campaign to address the emotional and financial aftermath.
The fundraising effort detailed significant financial and emotional hardships, including his mother's suicide attempt and substantial family debt from building a laneway house.
