TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA, 經濟部) launched the "2025 Taiwan-France Innovation R&D Cooperation Program" (2025年台法創新研發合作計畫) on Monday (June 9), marking a significant step in strengthening Taiwan's (台灣) and France's (法國) partnership in technology innovation. The initiative will accept project proposals until Oct. 30, focusing on semiconductors, space, smart manufacturing, materials and biotechnology, and green energy technology, with funding covering up to 50% of total project costs.
In a press release, the MOEA pointed out that Taiwan and France signed an "Industrial Innovation R&D Cooperation Memorandum" on May 21 to enhance their collaborative efforts. The MOEA noted that this agreement aims to integrate the strengths of both parties, accelerating industrial cooperation between Taiwan and France. Taiwan will support the program through the Industrial Development Administration's (產業發展署) "Industrial Upgrading Innovation Platform Guidance Program"(產業升級創新平台輔導計畫) and the Department of Industrial Technology's (技術司) " A+ Industrial Innovative R&D Program" (A+企業創新研發淬鍊計畫).
Meanwhile, the MOEA noted that France will provide corporate loans via the Banque Publique d'Investissement (BPI, 法國公共投資銀行). The program's maximum duration is three years, with funding for domestic companies capped at 50% of the project's total budget upon approval by both parties.
