TAIPEI (TVBS News) — TWICE, the popular South Korean girl group, will perform its first-ever concert in Taiwan (台灣) in November. at the Kaohsiung National Stadium (高雄世運主場館). The announcement has sparked a rush among fans to secure tickets and accommodations. Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai (陳其邁) pledged to work with the "Kaohsiung Hotel Association" (高雄市旅館商業同業公會) to stabilize hotel prices during the concert, ensuring fans enjoy their stay.
Mayor Chen emphasized that several concerts are scheduled for the end of the year. He plans to have the Tourism Bureau (觀光局) monitor hotel rates and collaborate with the Consumer Ombudsman (消保官) to safeguard consumer interests. Chen highlighted TWICE's impressive achievements, noting their album sales reached 11 million by 2024 and their high YouTube views, marking them as a popular multinational group. He expressed anticipation for welcoming ONCE (the fan club's nickname) from across Asia.
Chen stated that the city will coordinate with the band's management to arrange transportation and accommodations efficiently. Chen reiterated the importance of stabilizing hotel prices to ensure fans have a pleasant experience in Kaohsiung. A booking website listed a Marriott Hotel (萬豪酒店) rate in Kaohsiung of NT$142,110. The hotel clarified this price covers three executive family suites over two nights, averaging NT$23,685 per suite, which does not exceed the standard rate.
