TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's premier aerospace manufacturer has secured a multi-million dollar international contract that strengthens its foothold in the global aviation supply chain. Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC, 漢翔公司), Taiwan's largest aircraft manufacturer, announced Thursday (June 19) a substantial five-year procurement agreement with French industrial giant Hutchinson Group's JPR division. The contract, valued at 4.6 million euros (approximately NT$156 million or US$5.27 million), will position the Taiwanese company as a key supplier for several prestigious commercial aircraft programs, including Boeing's B787 Dreamliner, Airbus's A220 and A320 families, and Bombardier's CL3500 business jet.
The landmark agreement was formalized in a signing ceremony between AIDC's Director of Materials Lin Hsin-chih (林欣志) and JPR's Vice President Herve Raoult, with AIDC's Deputy General Manager Chuang Hsiu-mei (莊秀美) present as an official witness. In a statement following the ceremony, AIDC highlighted the strategic advantages of the five-year commitment, noting that the extended timeframe would provide crucial stability in raw material pricing during a period of global supply chain volatility. Company officials emphasized that the agreement would significantly enhance their cost management capabilities and streamline project execution across multiple international aerospace programs.
The procurement deal reinforces a well-established partnership between AIDC and Hutchinson Group, a prestigious French industrial conglomerate specializing in advanced rubber components and systems for aerospace applications. AIDC, also known by its Chinese name Hanxiang (漢翔), underscored the critical importance of maintaining reliable supply relationships as the global aviation industry undergoes unprecedented restructuring following recent market disruptions. The Taiwanese manufacturer's active participation in the prestigious Paris Air Show, widely regarded as one of the aviation industry's three most significant international exhibitions, represents a calculated effort to raise Taiwan's profile in the aerospace sector and secure additional long-term manufacturing contracts.
