TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei's Department of Information and Tourism (台北市觀傳局), the city's official tourism promotion agency, announced Tuesday (July 1) an ambitious travel partnership with Taiwan's premier international carrier EVA Air (長榮航空) commemorating two significant milestones: the 64th anniversary of Taipei's sister city relationship with Houston and the decade-long establishment of direct flight service between the two metropolitan hubs. American travelers departing from any EVA Air gateway in the United States bound for Taipei can access special promotional discount codes for reduced airfares and curated gift packages containing local experiences, with the limited-time offer launching immediately.

Yu Hsiang (余祥), commissioner of Taipei's Department of Information and Tourism, highlighted the capital city's distinctive fusion of traditional Eastern cultural heritage and contemporary urban innovation as a compelling draw for American visitors seeking authentic yet accessible Asian travel experiences. During the announcement, officials revealed that the exclusive gift packages accompanying the promotion feature complimentary admission tickets to two of Taiwan's most iconic attractions: the soaring Taipei 101 skyscraper, once the world's tallest building, and the internationally renowned National Palace Museum (國立故宮博物院), home to one of the world's largest collections of ancient Chinese artifacts and artworks.

The tourism initiative represents part of a broader, multi-faceted promotion strategy specifically designed to capture North American travel markets, according to department officials. The comprehensive campaign seeks to amplify Taipei's visibility through strategic partnerships with respected global travel publications including Lonely Planet, Matador Network, and Travel Pulse, leveraging their substantial reach among international travelers. Tourism authorities have simultaneously engaged prominent key opinion leaders (KOLs) across North American social media platforms to create authentic content highlighting Taipei's distinctive urban lifestyle, culinary excellence, and rich cultural landscapes, with the explicit goal of stimulating increased tourism from both the United States and neighboring Canada.

Branded as "Taipei, Your Next Adventure," the promotional campaign specifically targets American travelers broadly while placing special emphasis on Houston residents who can take advantage of the convenient nonstop flight connection established a decade ago. Tourism officials underscored the historical significance of the six-decade relationship between the two cities, characterized by consistent cultural exchanges and growing economic ties that have deepened over the years. The department issued a gentle urgency in their announcement, noting that interested travelers should move promptly to claim the limited-quantity discount codes and exclusive gift packages before supplies are exhausted, suggesting strong anticipated demand for the special offer. ◼
