TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Greg Hsu (許光漢) completed his substitute service on Wednesday (Aug. 6), marking the end of a year-long commitment with the Ministry of the Interior's (MOI, 內政部) Department of Conscription Administration (DCA, 役政司) in Nantou. He expressed gratitude for the support he'd received and reflected on a fulfilling and healthy year.
Hsu joined the Nantou "Substitute Services Draftees for the Public Welfare" team as an ambassador in August 2024. During his service, he participated in the Extraordinary Substitute Civilian Unit event, performing Van Fan's (范逸臣) "As Happy as Can Be" (無樂不作) and a single from his own album. The performance, which he did not plan to commercialize, delighted fans around the world.
He maintained a low profile during his service, having only attended the Golden Horse Awards and showing support to the South Korean girl group LE SSERAFIM at their concert in the National Taiwan Sport University Arena (林口體育館).
Following his discharge, Hsu's schedule is already visibly packed, with promotion for the romantic fantasy film "Measure in Love" (他年她日) taking him to Taiwan and Hong Kong. By the end of the year, Hsu will once again be working together with the "Marry My Dead Body" (鬼家人) director, Cheng Wei-hao (程偉豪). He may also be joining the cast of "Shang-Chi 2" (尚氣2), with projects lined up into next year.
