TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Pingtung County Government (屏東縣政府) launched the "Pingtung Nostalgia — Old Time Platform" (屏藏心-舊時光月台) exhibition at Pingtung Martial Arts Hall (屏東演武場) on Thursday (Jan. 22). The event, which highlights nostalgia and collectibles, features old street scenes, traditional grocery stores, and vinyl records. A large piggy bank installation in the outdoor plaza adds a festive touch as the Lunar New Year approaches.
The exhibition, running until March 15, invites collectors Li Chia-yu (李家羽) and Chin Ai-ti (金愛娣) to showcase their treasured items. It includes three main sections: memory street scenes, nostalgic life, and collectible displays. Visitors can explore recreated home settings, including living rooms and bedrooms, that reflect the simplicity of early family life.
The venue captures familiar street images, such as grocery stores and public telephones, evoking collective memories of past neighborhood life. Classic collectibles, including vinyl records, toy figures, and retro toys, are on display. The large piggy bank installation symbolizes prosperity and good fortune, enhancing the exhibition's festive atmosphere.
The Pingtung County Government noted that most items come from local collector Li Chia-yu. Li's fascination with the texture of old objects led him on a treasure hunt over the past 20 years, meticulously preserving items like old station signs, children's toys, and various objects bearing the marks of time. This free exhibition offers visitors of all ages a chance to reconnect with their past through these cherished memories.
