TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) predicted a cooling trend across Taiwan, starting Friday (Feb. 13). Cooler mornings and evenings will prevail, with significant temperature differences between day and night in the western regions. Meanwhile, residents in eastern Taiwan and the Hengchun (恆春) Peninsula can expect intermittent showers, while other areas will experience mostly cloudy to clear skies.

The CWA reported that conditions will remain mostly sunny to cloudy on Saturday (Feb. 14) and Feb. 15, with notable day-night temperature variations. However, scattered showers may occur in the eastern, southeastern regions and the Hengchun Peninsula. The administration anticipated a cold front passing through on Feb. 16, which will strengthen the northeast monsoon, leading to a temperature drop in northern and northeastern Taiwan.

The CWA revealed that from Feb. 17 to Feb. 19, the northeast monsoon will continue to bring cooler weather to northern and northeastern areas, with chilly conditions in the mornings and evenings elsewhere. The administration reported that on Feb. 16 and Feb. 17, regions north of Taoyuan, northeastern and eastern areas will experience sporadic showers. The administration noted that light rain is also expected in southeastern areas, the Hengchun Peninsula, and the Hsinchu-Miaoli Mountain region, while other areas remain mostly cloudy to clear.

The CWA pointed out that the sporadic showers along the north coast of Keelung, greater Taipei, and the eastern half of the island on Feb. 18 and Feb. 19, including the Hengchun Peninsula. Other regions will continue to see mostly cloudy to clear skies.
