TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Tainan City Government announced on Wednesday (Feb. 25) that the 2026 Taiwan International Orchid Show and Floral Technology Exhibition will begin on Friday (Feb. 27) to March 16 at the Ministry of Agriculture's Floral Industry Innovation Center (農業部花卉創新園區). The government plans to offer shuttle services during the Taiwan Lantern Festival in Chiayi, inviting the public to enjoy orchids by day and lanterns by night.
Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) attended the event's launch ceremony, previewing the exhibition highlights at the venue, which was still under construction. Huang noted the event covers the Peace Memorial Day holiday on Saturday (Feb. 28) and the Taiwan Lantern Festival from March 3 to 15, allowing visitors to plan a one-day trip to southern Taiwan.
Tai Ting-en (戴廷恩), director of the Research and Development Center at the Floral Industry Innovation Center, said this exhibition marks the center's first major project since its establishment last September. Despite significant damage from Typhoon Danas last year, the center completed repairs by the Lunar New Year, incorporating innovative elements for a unique visitor experience.
The Tainan City Government's Agriculture Bureau announced plans for a dual exhibition, presenting four themed pavilions: the Bloom Pavilion, Flower Pavilion, Connection and Living Pavilion, and Market Pavilion with AI. The inkjet orchids, integrating works from various painters, are expected to be a major attraction. The Floral Technology Exhibition will highlight the fusion of technology and art, introducing AI applications to showcase the innovative strength of Taiwan's floral industry.
