TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Yoo Yeon-seok (유연석, 柳演錫) arrived in Taipei on Tuesday (March 3) to attend the press conference for the Korean drama "Phantom Lawyer" (神與律師事務所). The actor shared anecdotes about transforming into a ghost-seeing lawyer, a unique role that distinguishes this series from other legal dramas.
The drama, set to premiere exclusively on Hami Video next Friday (March 13), features Yoo as Shin Yi-rang (慎二朗), a lawyer who can see and communicate with ghosts. Yoo expressed hope that Taiwanese audiences will resonate with this aspect of the show. He said, "The character Shin Yi-rang can communicate with ghosts, which sets this drama apart from other legal dramas, and we hope Taiwanese audiences will find the cultural references in the show familiar".
Returning to Taiwan a year after his first fan meeting last March, Yoo thanked his Taiwanese fans for their enthusiastic welcome. He acknowledged their support as he promotes his latest work. This visit also marked his first Lantern Festival in Taiwan, where he enjoyed tangyuan (湯圓) and praised them in Taiwanese, saying, "yum-yum."
Yoo faced a significant challenge in his acting career by portraying a character possessed by the ghost of a female idol, which required him to perform girl group dances. To prepare for this role, Yoo watched documentaries on shamans and interacted with traditional Korean shamans to deepen his understanding of the character. This dedication highlights his commitment to delivering an authentic performance.
