TAIPEI (TVBS News) — China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Wang Wenbin responded to Italy's formal withdrawal from China's "One Belt One Road" Initiative (OBOR) on Thursday (Dec. 7), opposing efforts to discredit the global infrastructure project.

Speaking to the media, Wang emphasized that OBOR has expanded to more than 150 countries in the past decade.

The spokeperson described OBOR as the "most popular international public product" and the "largest platform for international cooperation." Wang pointed to the 3rd Belt and Road Forum in October, attended by representatives from 151 countries and 41 international organizations, as evidence of the initiative's global appeal and influence.

When questioned by foreign media, Wang reiterated China's opposition to negative portrayals of OBOR and emphasized the importance of cooperation over creating divisions.
