HANOI (TVBS News) — Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to embark on a state visit to Hanoi, Vietnam, on Tuesday (Dec. 12), marking his third visit to the country since becoming the General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party and the President of the People's Republic of China.

Ahead of his visit, Xi penned an article in Vietnam's Nhân Dân newspaper, urging both China and Vietnam to maintain strategic communication, leverage each other's strengths, enhance friendly exchanges, and properly manage differences.

As 2023 marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of a Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership between China and Vietnam, he emphasized the construction of a strategic community of shared destiny between China and Vietnam, highlighting its potential to contribute positively to Asian development and global peace.

The long-standing economic ties between the two nations are significant, with China remaining Vietnam's largest trading partner, and Vietnam being China's biggest trading partner in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as well as the fourth largest globally.
