TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Ukrainian students at Tzu Chi University (TCU) have formed a volunteer team to teach English and music as a way of expressing gratitude to Taiwan for its support during the Russia-Ukraine War.
The TCU initiated a refugee student aid project following the conflict, helping 20 Ukrainian students continue their education in Taiwan.
The volunteer group, composed of nine Master's students studying media and communications at TCU, will conduct classes at the Municipal Taichangguomin Elementary School (TACPS) two to three times per week throughout the semester.
The university facilitated school partnerships in response to students' desire to contribute to the community, according to TCU.
One Ukrainian student, Meng Ju-yen, aims to help children apply English in their daily lives, offering a fresh perspective that inspires their pupils, as noted by TACPS English teacher Yu Siang-ting.
