TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The National Land Management Agency of the Ministry of the Interior (NLMA) announced on Thursday (Dec. 21) that it not only anticipates achieving its eight-year target of 200,000 social housing units by next year but will surpass it by 107 percent.

As of this month, the NLMA reported the completion or ongoing construction of 94,023 social housing units, exceeding this year's approved target of 20,000 units by the executive court.

Under the NLMA's social housing development plan, approximately 7,000 rental housing units are offered quarterly to socioeconomically disadvantaged groups, utilizing private residential resources and professional management.

The NLMA has proposed new housing objectives for the period between 2025 and 2032, aiming to establish 250,000 direct social housing units, 250,000 units under rental management, and 500,000 units with rent subsidies.

Additionally, the NLMA has confirmed plans to implement more comprehensive housing policies to address the diverse housing needs of various groups and ease the public's housing burden.
