TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Renowned South Korean pianist and composer, Yiruma, has thrilled his Taiwanese fans by announcing an additional performance in Taiwan. The highly anticipated concert is scheduled to take place at the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts-Weiwuying on the evening of January 12 at 7:30 p.m., with tickets set to go on sale on Friday (Dec. 22).

Yiruma has already demonstrated his immense popularity in Taiwan, as all 5,000 tickets for his January 28 performance at the Taipei Music Center have completely sold out. In response to the overwhelming demand from fans who were unable to secure tickets, the pianist decided to add the Kaohsiung concert to his schedule.

Upon learning of the sell-out in Taipei and the subsequent addition of the Kaohsiung concert, Yiruma expressed his deep gratitude to his Taiwanese fans, stating, "I thank everyone for coming to see my performance. I will do my utmost to deliver a perfect performance for everyone to enjoy!" When asked if there was any particular Taiwanese delicacy he wanted to try, Yiruma unhesitatingly mentioned "Taiwanese deep-fried chicken steak."

It has been six years since Yiruma's last visit to Taiwan. His first concert in Taiwan in 2017 at the Taipei International Convention Center evoked a resonant response among attendees.

Yiruma's compositions, including "River Flows in You" and "Kiss The Rain," have gained significant popularity in Taiwan. Mentored by modern music maestro Sir Harrison Birtwistle, Yiruma is considered a leading figure in New Age Music.

His musical oeuvre seamlessly integrates jazz and classical components, with a delicate blend of Eastern lyricism and Western elegance, making his work globally well-received.

In addition to his solo works, Yiruma has also made extensive contributions to Korean drama soundtracks, such as "Winter Sonata" and "Summer Scent," accentuating the emotion in each episode with his melodious tunes.

Fans and music enthusiasts alike can look forward to a spectacular evening as Yiruma returns to captivate the audience with his extraordinary talent.
