2024 SCSE in Taiwan showcases global collaboration

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Smart City Summit and Expo (SCSE) in Taiwan marked its 11th edition with its opening on Tuesday (March 19), drawing a diverse array of industry experts and government officials from around the world.

Jason Chen, chairman of the Taiwan Smart City Solutions Alliance, expressed excitement about the event's decade-long journey, highlighting the ongoing flow of innovative solutions from both the public and private sectors. He emphasized this year's focus on AI-based solutions and a spotlight on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives.

 

Deputy Mayor Charles Lin of Kaohsiung stressed the expo's pivotal role in presenting various solutions tailored to international markets. Lin underscored the imperative for Kaohsiung's transformation and its central role in Taiwan's smart city endeavors.

Marc Elrich, Montgomery County executive from the U.S., praised the swift advancement of technologies showcased at the summit, citing hydrogen technologies as an example of progress toward their ambitious goal of achieving 100% clean electricity by 2035. Elrich hailed the conference as an enlightening experience and highlighted the potential for positive change within smart city sectors globally.

Vitezslav Schrek, president of the Vysočina Region in the Czech Republic, marked his inaugural participation in such a summit. Schrek emphasized the collaboration between the Czech Republic and Taiwan, highlighting the experiences and inspirations gained from their visit to Taiwan.
 

David Golding, head of Global Innovation Partnerships at Innovate UK, echoed sentiments of collaboration and partnership, emphasizing the critical role of alliances in collectively addressing global challenges. Golding highlighted the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Industrial Technology for collaborative endeavors.

The SCSE provides a dynamic platform where ideas converge, and technological advancements thrive. Leaders, driven by a shared vision of innovation and sustainability, continue to push boundaries and chart a course toward a more prosperous and sustainable future for all.
