TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜) anticipated a significant responsibility and a challenging road ahead for Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) on Wednesday (May 22).

Cho and the Vice Premier Cheng Li-chun (鄭麗君), paid a visit to Han and Deputy Legislative Speaker Johnny Chiang for closed-door discussions, aimed at fostering stronger communication and coordination between the Executive Yuan and the Legislative Yuan, just two days after the new cabinet took office.

Legislative Speaker Han expressed concerns over three key issues: transportation networks, breaking through the Central Mountain Range (中央山脈) for transportation infrastructure, and bilingual education, highlighting the need for enhanced dialogue with the Executive Yuan.

The new cabinet, which was inaugurated on May 20, has no honeymoon period, according to Cho. He emphasized the government's commitment to proposing bills that benefit the nation and avoid political controversy, including introducing four new bills to combat fraud.

The meeting was attended by key figures from both the Executive and Legislative branches, including Chester Chou (周萬來), the Secretary-General of the Legislative Yuan, and Kung Ming-hsin (龔明鑫), the Secretary-General of the Executive Yuan.

Representatives from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), including Ker Chien-ming (柯建銘), Wu Szu-yao (吳思瑤), and Chuang Jui-hsiung (莊瑞雄), also participated, underscoring the importance of the discussions.

Cho's earlier request to meet with Han and Chiang, which was aimed at enhancing communication and coordination, set the stage for this pivotal meeting.

As Taiwan's new cabinet begins its term, the emphasis on collaboration between the Executive and Legislative branches signals a proactive approach to governance.

With a focus on infrastructure, education, and legal reforms, the government demonstrates its commitment to addressing the nation's challenges head-on.
