TAIPEI (TVBS News) — NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang emphasized the transformative impact of artificial intelligence across various industries during his Taiwan keynote on Sunday (June 2). This event at National Taiwan University's Sports Center marked his first public appearance since arriving last week and was highly anticipated for its insights into future technological innovations.

A New Era of Efficiency

Jensen Huang discussed how AI is not only creating new business models but also significantly improving the efficiency of existing ones across multiple industries. "The computer industry is now some 60 years old in a lot of ways; everything that we do today was invented the year after my birthday in 1964," said Huang, referencing the rapid evolution of technology.

He further explained the potential of accelerated data processing to reduce costs dramatically. "It is very clear that many companies spend hundreds of millions of dollars processing data in the cloud. If it was accelerated, it is not unexpected that you could save hundreds of millions of dollars," Huang noted, emphasizing the ongoing issue of computation inflation if the performance does not scale with data needs.

Revolutionizing data centers
"The vast majority of cloud spend today is consumed by data processing," Huang stated, predicting a future where "every application that is processing intensive will be accelerated, and surely every data center will be accelerated in the near future." This acceleration, he argued, is essential to counteract the rising costs associated with traditional computing methods.

Huang also addressed the long-term impact of technological advancements on cost efficiency. "Over the years, we have driven down the marginal cost of computing in the last ten years in one particular algorithm by a million times," he said, underscoring the cost-effectiveness of training large language models with extensive data sets.

Impact on artificial intelligence
The keynote highlighted the role of cheaper computing in advancing artificial intelligence. "The emergence of artificial intelligence was made possible because of this complete belief that if we make computing cheaper and cheaper, cheaper, somebody's going to find a great use," Huang remarked. He believes this principle will continue to spur innovation and enable both enterprises and individuals to achieve unprecedented levels of AI performance.

As the audience anticipated further revelations at COMPUTEX later this week, Huang's speech served as a prelude to discussions on the future of technology, hinting at new systems, software, and services that are about to be unveiled.
