TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 氣象署) reported that Sunday (Aug. 4) will feature mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies with scorching temperatures. Highs across the island will range from 33 to 36 degrees Celsius, with areas north of Taoyuan (桃園) and central and southern regions potentially exceeding 37 degrees. Strong ultraviolet rays around noon necessitate adequate hydration to prevent heat-related illnesses.

The CWA issued high-temperature alerts for 15 counties and cities. Keelung (基隆), Taipei (臺北), New Taipei (新北), Taoyuan, Changhua (彰化), Nantou (南投), Yunlin (雲林), Tainan (臺南), Kaohsiung (高雄), Pingtung (屏東), Hualien (花蓮), and Taitung (臺東) face orange warnings, indicating a probability of consecutive days with temperatures over 36 degrees. Taichung (臺中), Chiayi (嘉義), and Chiayi County (嘉義縣) are under yellow warnings.

Next Monday and Tuesday, a low-pressure system south of Japan will approach Taiwan, increasing moisture levels. Expect scattered showers or thunderstorms in areas south of Miaoli (苗栗), with isolated rain in Hsinchu (新竹) and Yilan (宜蘭). Other regions will be mostly cloudy, with potential afternoon thunderstorms in western and eastern mountainous areas.

From next Wednesday to Saturday, Taiwan will experience a low-pressure environment with southwesterly winds. Central and southern regions may see sporadic showers or thunderstorms, while other areas remain mostly cloudy. Afternoon thunderstorms could occur in the western, northeastern, and eastern regions, as well as mountainous areas.
