NEW TAIPEI (TVBS News)—The New Taipei City Government's Sports Department announced on Thursday (Aug. 8) that Lin Yu-ting (林郁婷), who reached the final of the Olympic boxing competition, will receive a total reward of NT$5.7 million, an increase from the original NT$2.7 million if she wins the gold medal.

If she secures a silver medal, the reward will be adjusted from NT$1.4 million to NT$2.4 million, and a bronze medal will earn her NT$1.7 million, up from NT$1.2 million.

New Taipei Mayor Hou Yu-ih (侯友宜) called Lin "New Taipei's daughter"(新北女兒) and expressed the city's commitment to providing the maximum support and encouragement.

The Sports Department also stated that the incentive bonuses would increase from 5% to 10% of the bonuses by the Taiwanese government (國光體育獎章). Additionally, training subsidies will rise from NT$18,000 to NT$25,000, and each athlete will receive a pre-competition encouragement bonus of NT$100,000.

Lin will face 20-year-old Polish competitor Julia Szeremeta in the Boxing Women's 57 kg final event on Aug. 11.
