TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei Deputy Mayor Lee Shu-chuan (李四川) announced Monday (Aug. 19) that efforts are underway to host the National Day evening gala on Oct. 5 at the Taipei Dome (大巨蛋). He emphasized the need for the Taiwan Fire Protection Safety Center Res Foundation (消防基金會) to complete its review by the end of this month.
If approved, the Taipei City Government can organize non-sporting events according to the Ministry of the Interior's (內政部) guidelines under the Large-Scale Assembly Autonomy Regulations (大型集會自治條例).
Lee shared on Facebook a day earlier that concerts at the Taipei Dome will soon begin, posting two photos of workers addressing leaks. He noted that the main issues are water leaks and the color of the seats. Lee explained that has urged Farglory Group (遠雄) to expedite the leak repairs, which they expect to resolve by the end of next month.
Another concern is the white color of the audience seats, which can make baseballs difficult to see. Lee stated that seat covers should be ready by the end of October, which will significantly improve the situation.
Addressing evacuation concerns, Lee assured that the Taipei Dome has evacuation routes both above and below ground, including a passage directly to the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall (國父紀念館). He stated that evacuation processes can essentially be completed between 15 and 20 minutes.
