TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) announced on Sunday (Sept. 15) that Typhoon Pulasan (颱風葡萄桑) is expected to approach Taiwan closely on Sept. 19.

Northern and eastern regions may experience brief, localized rain, and coastal areas should watch for potential long waves, the CWA noted.

The administration issued a typhoon formation notice on Sunday evening. The tropical depression near Guam evolved into the 14th typhoon of the year at 9:25 p.m. and is projected to move toward the Ryukyu Islands, impacting Taiwan's weather.

The administration noted that the typhoon's later path remains uncertain and will continue to monitor its dynamics.

WeatherRisk (天氣風險公司) analyst Wu Sheng-yu (吳聖宇) highlighted that although the typhoon's intensity appears limited and it is not expected to directly hit Taiwan, it will still increase moisture around the island.

Wu advised everyone to stay alert to weather changes following the Mid-Autumn Festival. The administration's ongoing observations will provide further updates as the situation evolves.
