TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) hosted a banquet on Monday (Dec. 17) at the Grand Hotel (圓山飯店) to welcome Vice Shanghai Mayor Hua Yuan (上海副市長華源) and his delegation. The event featured a menu rich in Taiwanese flavors and aimed to enhance cross-strait cultural exchange through music and cuisine.
The banquet, with 28 tables set, showcased a menu including Chiang Soong Mei-ling's (蔣宋美齡) favorite red bean cake (紅豆鬆糕), Yilan duck liver (宜蘭膽肝), Hualien golden clams with garlic (蒜清花蓮黃金蜆), Penghu squid (澎湖小捲), Tainan shrimp rolls (府城蝦捲), Taiwanese Buddha jumps over the wall (台式佛跳牆), and traditional fried rice noodles (古早味炒米粉). These dishes highlighted Taiwan's diverse culinary heritage.
A unique musical performance by a Taiwanese orchestra added to the evening's cultural presentation. The repertoire included songs by Jody Chiang (江蕙), Teresa Teng Li-Chun (鄧麗君), and Jay Chou (周杰倫), offering a glimpse into Taiwan's rich musical landscape. The event celebrated Taiwanese gastronomy and fostered greater understanding and exchange between the two cities.
