TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) reaffirmed on Thursday (Jan. 9) the city's commitment to food safety after INPARADISE (饗饗) continued operations despite a closure order due to a food poisoning incident. Mayor Chiang emphasized that the Taipei government will not tolerate any challenge to its authority, reiterating the decision to shut down and heavily fine the restaurant.

Taipei's Department of Health (北市衛生局) ordered the INPARADISE Breeze Xin Yi (饗饗微風信義店) to cease operations on Tuesday afternoon after customers reported food poisoning symptoms on Jan. 5. Chiang stated that the city rejected the Feastogether Group's (饗賓餐飲集團) appeal to reopen and imposed a NT$3 million fine under the Act Governing Food Safety and Sanitation (食安法).

Upon receiving the report, the city immediately inspected, uncovering violations, and proceeded with unannounced checks on other group outlets. As of Thursday, the number of reported cases seeking medical attention has reached 39. The city government underscored its commitment to monitoring the situation closely. Meanwhile, Moonmoon Food (雙月食品社) President Lai Yung-sheng (賴永晟) defended the Feastogether Group, accusing parties of using photos for malicious attacks and criticizing society for rushing to judgment.
