Taiwan’s baseball fever boosts economy (TVBS News)

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's triumphant victory in the WBSC Premier12 tournament has ignited a nationwide baseball fever, supercharging the "baseball economy." A March survey by iSURVEY (東方線上) revealed 90% of attendees spend on food, drinks, and merchandise, averaging NT$1,545 per person.

The survey showed 85% of the public followed the international tournament, while local Chinese Professional Baseball League (中職) games have seen attention double with an 18% surge in spectators. This enthusiasm is expected to energize the upcoming CPBL season starting in late March. A remarkable 79% of respondents plan to follow the season — twice the interest level of the past two years — directly attributed to the Premier12's electrifying influence.

iSURVEY's analysis forecasts an 18% growth in ticket purchases for professional games, potentially boosting attendance from 1.15 million to 1.36 million. Among new fans, 13% intend to support the 2025 CPBL season in person. The survey highlighted that 58% of attendees are drawn by the vibrant atmosphere and desire to support the event, while 47% value the social experience with friends and family.

As the CPBL season approaches, the surging interest and projected attendance promise to strengthen Taiwan's baseball economy. With fans eager to engage both in stadiums and through broadcasts, the league stands poised for a significant boost in viewership and revenue.
