NEW TAIPEI (TVBS News) — New Taipei City and Jinbaoli Cihu temple (金包里慈護宮) unveiled a special collaboration on March 4, the first in 23 years, to incorporate cultural elements into the prestigious Wan Jin Shi Marathon (新北市萬金石馬拉松). New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih (侯友宜) emphasized that sustainability and cultural integration are key themes for this year's marathon. The partnership with the temple featured a limited-edition peace amulet, adorned with an endearing depiction of Mazu and a wave motif, symbolizing prosperity and harmony.

Cihu Temple Chairman Yu Chung-i shared that visitors participating in temple rituals like tossing divination could receive these special peace amulets, symbolizing divine blessings. Also, 1,000 charms were distributed to local businesses for promotional purposes. Yu believes this collaboration, alongside the international marathon, offers an exceptional opportunity to showcase Taiwan on the global stage. The city has also launched 10 blessing routes, creating a spiritual tourism experience for participants. The New Taipei City Government Sports Department (新北市體育局) has prepared 1,500 amulets for visitors at the city hall, complemented by an interactive exhibition titled "Challenge the World Masters Games, Run Wan Jin Shi First," from March 8 to March 16.

Held on Sunday (March 16), the Wan Jin Shi Marathon drew competitors from over 30 countries. It earned a "Gold" label from World Athletics, signifying its status as Taiwan's premier athletic event.
