TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Smart City Summit & Expo (智慧城市展) in Taipei has attracted both international and domestic companies to showcase cutting-edge net-zero technologies and solutions. This event addresses global climate change challenges and emphasizes the critical goal of achieving worldwide net-zero emissions for sustainable development.
A highlight of the expo is the AI Tea Extractor (AI萃茶機) at the Tourism Administration's (觀光署) booth, where visitors can sample Alishan (阿里山) tea from Chiayi. Sarah Chiang (江孟珊), a manager at Jason Beverage Total Solution (傑森興業), noted that the machine's data analysis capabilities enable beverage shop owners to manage raw materials precisely, reducing waste.
In addition, Wonder Greener (玩艸植造) introduces eco-friendly straws made from natural hollow plants. Founder Benson Chen (陳柏燊) stated that these straws aid in achieving net-zero carbon emissions and are now sold in over 20 countries, including a collaboration with Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR, 台灣高鐵).
Transportation is essential to modern life, and sustainable travel has become a key concern. Taoyuan International Airport (桃園國際機場) is working to build an eco-friendly Terminal 3, with engineer Wei Chin-tzu (魏晉紫) aiming for LEED Gold certification. Meanwhile, Master Transportation Bus Manufacturing (運成汽車) Manager Joseph Chen (陳俊佑) has announced the launch of high-performance, long-range electric intercity buses.
At the National Development Council's (國家發展委員會) booth, Taiwan's energy and net-zero policy planning details are on display. The booth also features the National Sustainable Development Awards (國家永續發展獎), encouraging active participation in sustainable actions to achieve the 2050 net-zero emission target.
