TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's capital is about to welcome a heavyweight from Seoul's competitive dining scene as Gold Pig (金豬食堂), the celebrated South Korean barbecue establishment, prepares to launch its first international location in Taipei on May 13. The restaurant, which has maintained its coveted Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand status for seven consecutive years and recently earned a spot on the prestigious "50 Best Discovery" list for 2025, has set its sights on Taiwan's sophisticated food market.

The selection of Taipei's trendy Zhongshan District for this landmark expansion signals the brand's strong faith in Taiwan's robust dining market. Unlike its Seoul location, where diners routinely endure two-hour waits, the Taipei outpost will implement a reservation system to manage the anticipated crowds. Gold Pig's reputation as a celebrity magnet — having served K-pop royalty including GD, BTS, IU, aespa, SEVENTEEN, alongside actors like Park Bo-gum and international stars such as David Beckham — has already generated substantial buzz, particularly after Super Junior members Leeteuk and Eunhyuk were spotted dining at the pre-opening venue.

The restaurant's storied reputation for authentic Korean barbecue excellence and growing international recognition have created palpable anticipation among Taiwan's food enthusiasts. Industry observers expect the May 13 grand opening to establish Gold Pig as an instant culinary landmark, likely drawing both Hallyu celebrities (Korean wave stars) and devoted food connoisseurs to Zhongshan District, potentially transforming the neighborhood's dining landscape with its arrival. ★
