TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A constellation of Taiwan's entertainment luminaries assembled on Wednesday (July 2) for the splashy launch of "What A Trip" (出去一下), a new adventure-themed variety show that promises viewers vicarious thrills through celebrity exploits. The undisputed star of the press conference was Shuhua (葉舒華), the Taiwanese member of K-pop sensation (G)I-DLE, who mesmerized the audience with pulse-quickening tales of her skydiving and bungee jumping exploits in New Zealand, promptly earning herself the moniker 'Queen of Extreme Sports.'

Fellow cast members couldn't contain their admiration for the 23-year-old performer. Actor Boling Chen (陳柏霖), a fixture in Taiwan's entertainment industry, and singer YELLOW (黃宣) both effusively praised Shuhua's effervescent on-screen presence. Award-winning actress Gwei Lun-mei (桂綸鎂), known for her critically acclaimed dramatic roles, added a touch of whimsy by comparing the young star to "an angel." During the event, Shuhua revealed her elaborate sun protection regimen, recounting how a previous severe sunburn had left her skin peeling but ultimately renewed — a metaphor that seemed to mirror her fearless approach to life's challenges.

The variety program showcases Shuhua pushing personal boundaries through participation in various high-risk athletic endeavors, though she emphasized that comprehensive insurance coverage and rigorous safety protocols were always in place. "I want to create unforgettable memories while I'm young," she explained, articulating a carpe diem philosophy that resonated with the assembled media. Her skydiving expedition emerged as particularly memorable, with Shuhua vividly describing the surreal tranquility she experienced before leaping from the aircraft alongside a professional instructor. Gwei's heartfelt praise for the younger performer's bravery visibly moved Shuhua, who responded by seeking an emotional embrace from her senior colleague. ◼
