TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Summer Travel Expo (夏季旅展) opened its doors Friday (July 18) at Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1 (台北世貿一館), offering visitors a comprehensive showcase of Taiwan's tourism attractions. Taiwan's Tourism Administration (觀光署), the government agency overseeing the island's travel industry, has organized the event with a visitor-friendly format allowing a single ticket to grant access for all four days of the exhibition. Attendees can browse an extensive selection of domestic and international travel packages, cruise vacations, and special deals from luxury hotels throughout the region.
The expo's centerpiece, the "Taiwan Spotlight Pavilion" (台灣亮點館), showcases the "Taiwan Tourism 100 Spotlights" (台灣觀光100亮點) theme through five geographical sections representing the north, central, south, east, and outlying islands of Taiwan. You can explore displays highlighting each region's scenic landscapes, cultural traditions, and distinctive travel opportunities. The "Taiwan Midsummer Pavilion" (台灣仲夏館) features the "Solar Festival" (台灣仲夏節) concept, integrating Taiwan's culinary exhibition with railway tourism promotions amid summer-themed decorations, complete with vendors selling specialty tea, coffee, and frozen treats.
The Tourism Administration has launched special transportation incentives to encourage sustainable travel, including half-price electronic tickets for 81 routes on the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle (台灣好行), a network of buses connecting major tourist attractions, with discounts valid through Oct. 31. The Taiwan Tour Bus (台灣觀巴), a guided tour service, presents buy-one-get-one-free promotions for 81 different itineraries daily, while select package tours offer substantial 70% discounts. Dedicated service booths throughout the expo will provide consultation and reservation assistance for these travel options. ◼
