TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's legislators reached a consensus Friday (Aug. 22) to schedule cross-party negotiations for Tuesday. The negotiations will focus on the draft amendment to the "Strengthening Economic, Social, and National Security Resilience in Response to International Situations Act" (因應國際情勢強化經濟社會及民生國安韌性特別條例). The agreement signals a coordinated approach to addressing national security and economic resilience measures.
The Finance Committee of the Legislative Yuan, Taiwan's parliament, plans to review the "Special Reconstruction Budget of the Central Government for Typhoon Danas and the July 28 Heavy Rain Disaster Recovery" (中央政府丹娜絲颱風及728豪雨災後復原重建特別預算案). The committee aims to submit the review report to the plenary session the same day. The committee will examine Wednesday (Aug. 28) the "Supplementary Budget for the Central Government's 2025 General Budget" (114年度中央政府總預算追加預算案) and submit its findings promptly.
Legislative Yuan President Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜) will lead negotiations Wednesday (Aug. 28) concerning the disaster budget. Lawmakers will discuss the resilience act amendment, disaster recovery budget, and supplementary budget during the Thursday (Aug. 29) plenary session.
