TAIPEI (TVBS News) — P. LEAGUE+, Taiwan's professional basketball league, announced Wednesday (Aug. 27) the roster of 18 players for the 2025 rookie draft, featuring 16 local talents and two foreign students. The highly anticipated draft will take place Sept. 2, with Yangkey Engineering Co., Ltd. (洋基工程) securing the coveted first pick after joining the league to replace the departed Kaohsiung Steelers. The Tainan TSG GhostHawks, Taipei Fubon Braves, and Taoyuan Pilots will follow in the established draft order.
Yeh Wei-chieh (葉惟捷), a Taiwanese basketball star who developed his skills in the United States, emerges as the leading contender for the first overall pick. The talented player comes from distinguished basketball lineage, with his mother Yang Shu-i (楊淑怡) being a former national team player for Taiwan's women's basketball squad. P. LEAGUE+ previously struggled with only three teams after the Kaohsiung Steelers' departure, but Yangkey Engineering Co., Ltd. (洋基工程) has restored the four-team structure, ensuring competitive balance for the upcoming season. ◼
