TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A surge in temperatures and sporadic thunderstorms will affect Taiwan as a southern cloud system moves north. Meteorological authorities reported on Monday (Sept. 8) that Taipei's mercury could soar beyond 36 degrees Celsius, with the afternoon bringing isolated thunderstorms to many regions. Meteorologist Wu Der-romg (吳德榮) highlighted that Typhoon Tapah's outer moisture will increase cloud cover across Taiwan for Sept. 8-9, keeping northern areas notably warm.

Wu, in his column for the National Central University (NCU, 中央大學), analyzed the situation, noting that Typhoon Tapah made landfall east of Yangjiang, Guangdong, early Sept. 8, and will gradually weaken. The latest European model simulations predict a likelihood of significant thunderstorms on Wednesday. (Sept. 10) afternoon. From Thursday. (Sept. 11) to Saturday. (Sept. 13) The strengthening Pacific high pressure will bring stable and sunny weather across Taiwan.

Wu also mentioned that by Sun. (Sept. 14) The Pacific high pressure will intensify further, resulting in sunny and hot conditions nationwide. There remains a slight chance of localized rain in mountainous areas during the afternoons. Residents should prepare for fluctuating weather patterns in the coming days, with potential thunderstorms and rising temperatures posing challenges.
