TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The General Administration of Customs of China (GACC, 大陸海關總署) revealed on Monday (Sept. 8) that cross-strait trade between Taiwan and China reached $201.911 billion in the first eight months of this year, marking an 8.9% increase from the previous year. This rise reflects growing economic interactions despite a monthly decline in August.

China imported US$147.094 billion worth of goods from Taiwan, an 8.1% increase year-on-year, while exports to Taiwan amounted to US$54.817 billion, up by 11.1%. However, the trade deficit with Taiwan stood at $92.2 billion. In August, imports from Taiwan decreased by 2.0% to $19.001 billion, and exports to Taiwan fell by 8.7% to $7.515 billion.

 

China's total trade in August reached $541.29 billion, a 3.1% increase compared to the same month last year. Exports rose by 4.4% to $321.81 billion, while imports increased by 1.3% to $219.48 billion. The trade surplus for August was $102.33 billion, contributing to a year-to-date surplus of $785.34 billion, with exports growing by 5.9% and imports declining by 2.2%.
