TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan faces an extended period of stable, scorching weather beginning Thursday (Sept. 11), according to WeatherRisk Explore Inc. (天氣風險公司), a prominent weather forecasting company. The strengthening Pacific high-pressure system will generate southeast to south winds while reducing regional moisture levels significantly. This atmospheric shift promises mostly cloudy to sunny conditions across lowland areas, with afternoon thunderstorms retreating to mountainous terrain.
The high-pressure system's dominance will continue from Friday (Sept. 12) through the weekend across Taiwan. Morning showers may develop in western regions, giving way to sunny to partly cloudy conditions throughout most daylight hours. WeatherRisk Explore Inc. (天氣風險公司) warned that daytime temperatures in Greater Taipei and western Taiwan could soar to 36 degrees Celsius (96.8°F) or higher, accompanied by intense ultraviolet radiation requiring hydration and sun protection measures.
The stable, scorching weather pattern will persist through Monday (Sept. 16), with afternoon precipitation confined primarily to mountainous regions. Meteorological uncertainty escalates during the latter half of next week as the Pacific high-pressure system begins weakening significantly. A potential monsoon trough may form west of the Philippine Islands, necessitating continuous monitoring by weather experts and authorities. ◼
