TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The CHIMEI Museum (奇美博物館) announced an exclusive Western martial arts event scheduled for Nov. 1, featuring European expert Devin Burman. The museum revealed Wednesday (Oct. 1) that the one-day program combines educational lectures with hands-on workshops to explore the cultural history of European combat traditions. Registration opens immediately for this unique educational opportunity spanning medieval to modern martial arts.
The program features two English-language sessions with Chinese interpretation available for participants who require it. The morning "Master Lecture" explores "From Knight to Gentleman: The Evolution of European Martial Arts and Weapons" (從騎士到紳士:歐洲武術與兵器的演進). This session traces European martial arts development from medieval to Baroque periods through demonstrations and interactive discussions.
The afternoon "Master Workshop" titled "The Western Swordsman's Training Manual" (西洋劍士養成術) conducts practical training in the museum's weaponry hall. Participants learn basic longsword and Western sword techniques from the European instructor. The museum limited attendance to 250 for the lecture and 30 for the workshop, creating an intimate learning environment for this historical martial arts journey. ◼
