Rain expected in northern Taiwan (TVBS News)

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) reported on Wednesday (Nov. 5) that Taiwan faces a mix of weather patterns due to the northeast monsoon. Northern, northeastern, and eastern regions will experience localized, brief rain showers, with a higher probability of rainfall along the northern coast of Keelung, the greater Taipei mountain area, and Yilan. This weather shift brings varying temperatures and conditions across the island.

The administration also noted that central and southern Taiwan will enjoy mostly cloudy to clear skies, although scattered afternoon showers may occur in mountainous areas. Temperatures in areas north of Hsinchu and Yilan will range from 20 to 25 degrees Celsius. Coastal regions from Taoyuan to Tainan, the Hengchun (恆春) Peninsula, as well as Penghu, Matsu, Orchid Island (蘭嶼), and Green Island (綠島), are expected to experience strong winds.

The Ministry of Environment (MOEN, 環境部) forecasted that air quality will be moderate in northern, central, and Yunlin-Chiayi-Tainan areas due to the monsoon. However, the Kaohsiung-Pingtung region will face "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups" conditions. Meanwhile, a tropical depression south-southwest of Guam may develop into a typhoon and could affect Taiwan's weather next week as it approaches Luzon Island. Typhoon Tino (海鷗) continues its path toward Vietnam, posing no direct threat to Taiwan.
