TAIPEI (TVBS News) — LINE Pay Money launched Wednesday (Dec. 3), enabling you to transfer money directly through the LINE app. You must update LINE to version 15.18.1 or higher, complete identity verification, and link a bank account to access the new feature. The launch marks a significant shift in Taiwan's mobile payment landscape as the service replaces existing payment partnerships.

iPASS Corporation (一卡通公司) will terminate its partnership with LINE Pay by the end of this year, making way for LINE Pay Money's electronic payment capabilities. LINE Pay Money provides users across Taiwan with top-up, withdrawal, friend transfers, and bill payments services. During the transition period from Dec. 3 to Dec. 31, iPASS MONEY users can still log in via the LINE app to perform friend transfers, withdrawals, and balance checks.

LINE Pay will not automatically transfer balances from iPASS MONEY accounts to LINE Pay Money, as they are separate electronic payment services. LINE Pay ceased sending iPASS MONEY bill payment notifications as of Dec. 3, requiring users to monitor payment deadlines independently. Users who have not activated LINE Pay Money by Jan. 1, 2026, will need to use the iPASS MONEY app for transfers. ◼
