TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taipei City Police Department's Traffic Division announced on Thursday (Jan. 8) that the Standard Chartered Taipei Charity Marathon 2026 (渣打台北公益馬拉松) on Jan. 11 will bring significant traffic changes. They stated that 26,000 participants will traverse key roads, including Ketagalan Boulevard (凱達格蘭大道), Aiguo East Road (愛國東路), and the Right Bank Riverside Park bike trail (右岸河濱公園自行車道).

The Chinese Taipei Road Running Association (中華民國路跑協會) will host the marathon from 4 a.m. to 12 p.m., with the event kicking off at 5:30 a.m. The event will see runners covering a route that includes Hangzhou South Road (杭州南路), Xinyi Road (信義路), and Zhongshan South and North Roads (中山南北路), among others. Authorities have planned road closures and traffic controls to ensure safety and order during the event.

The Traffic Division will enforce restrictions, prohibiting pedestrians and vehicles, including bicycles, from crossing or accessing the designated areas. Officials advised commuters to avoid these roads and use alternative routes, such as Jinshan South Road (金山南路), Heping East Road (和平東路), and Chongqing South Road (重慶南路).

Public bus services along the marathon route will be temporarily suspended. The Traffic Division encouraged residents to check the Taipei Public Transportation Office's (台北市公運處) website for alternative bus routes. To maintain smooth traffic flow, the brigade urges the public to reroute or use public transportation during the event.
