TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Former TPP Chairman Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) met with Legislative Yuan President Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜) Friday (Jan. 9) to push for Assisted Reproduction Act (人工生殖法) amendments. Ko's visit marks his second lobbying effort at the legislature this month, following meetings with ruling and opposition party caucuses on Thursday (Jan. 2). The former Taipei mayor seeks to advance the legislative goals of Taiwan People's Party (TPP, 民眾黨) legislator Chen Gau-tzu (陳昭姿), who has championed the reproductive rights initiative.

TPP caucus leader Huang Kuo-chang (黃國昌), legislator Chen Gau-tzu, and caucus director Vicky Chen (陳智菡) accompanied Ko during Friday's meeting at the parliament. Legislative Yuan President Han and Vice President Johnny Chiang (江啟臣) welcomed the delegation at the entrance, signaling openness to cross-party dialogue on the proposed legislation. Ko's continued outreach to legislative leaders demonstrates the TPP's prioritization of the reproductive rights amendment as a key policy objective for the current session.

Han presented Ko with a spring couplet, a traditional Lunar New Year decoration featuring calligraphy with auspicious phrases, wishing him happiness in the new year. Han noted this was the first couplet co-signed by him and Chiang, making it a special gift for the former TPP chairman during the pre-holiday legislative visit. The Assisted Reproduction Act amendment, which seeks to expand access to assisted reproductive technologies in Taiwan, remains a priority for legislator Chen Gau-tzu and the TPP caucus. ◼
