TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taoyuan International Airport (桃園國際機場公司) announced on Tuesday (Jan. 20) a significant expansion of electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities at Terminal 2, increasing the number of dedicated parking spaces from four to 45. The airport plans to activate new charging stations and initiate a fee-based charging service on Feb. 2. According to a press release, this initiative reflects a commitment to enhancing smart services for travelers.

The newly installed charging stations will be located across the P3 and P4 parking lots at Terminal 2. They will include 21 AC slow-charging spaces and 20 DC fast-charging spaces. The airport will charge NT$8 per kilowatt-hour for AC slow charging and NT$12 per kilowatt-hour for DC fast charging. This expansion aims to accommodate the growing demand for EV infrastructure among travelers.

In line with the airport's push for smart services, users can start charging, check charging status, and pay online using a QR code on the charging stations. This digital approach seeks to streamline the charging process for EV owners. The airport will also begin phased closures of the P1 and P2 parking lots at Terminal 1 in March to accommodate renovation work.

The airport company reminds drivers that the dedicated EV charging spaces are strictly for charging purposes. Once charging is complete, drivers should promptly vacate the space. Violators will face a fine of NT$1,200 under the Parking Facility Act (停車場法). The airport has installed a QR code for reporting violations, allowing the public to assist in monitoring compliance.
