TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) forecasted a mix of warm, sunny days and cooler, rainy nights for Taiwan as southeastern winds influence the region on Saturday (Feb. 14) to Sunday (Feb. 15). Western Taiwan will see temperatures rise to 27 to 30 degrees Celsius during the day, while Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu will experience cooler temperatures.

The arrival of the northeast monsoon will bring cooler and wetter weather to northern Taiwan and Yilan on Monday (Feb. 16). The CWA warned that temperatures will drop from Monday through Thursday (Feb. 19), with short-lived showers expected in Taoyuan, Yilan, and Hualien.

Ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, meteorologist Lin De-en (林得恩) noted that favorable weather will persist until Sunday, with a shift from easterly to southeasterly winds and reduced moisture. Lin emphasized that Taiwan will enjoy mostly sunny to partly cloudy conditions, except for sporadic showers in Hualien, Taitung, and the Hengchun Peninsula (恆春半島).

TVBS meteorological consultant Cheng Ming-dean (鄭明典) also remarked that each day will be warmer until Monday, when the northeast monsoon arrives. Temperatures in northern and northeastern Taiwan will begin to rise as the northeast monsoon weakens on Friday (Feb. 20), though mornings and evenings will remain cool.
