TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The stationary front lingering over Taiwan is gradually shifting away, but residents can expect persistent rainy conditions due to prevailing southwestern winds.

The front moved to the northern waters on Saturday (June 17), yet moisture brought by the southwest winds continues to influence the weather patterns in Taiwan. Central and southern regions can anticipate a high probability of rainfall and thunderstorms.

The leeward side of the northern and eastern regions offers stable weather; however, convective cloud systems may develop in the afternoon, bringing localized and significant rainfall.

You should carry rain gear as a precautionary measure. Temperature-wise, projected highs will range from 31 to 33 degrees Celsius, while lows will range from 24 to 26 degrees Celsius.

It is worth noting that the southern regions, mainly mountainous areas, may experience even higher temperatures. Tainan and specific areas in Hualien are expected to exceed 36 degrees Celsius.

Therefore, you need to prioritize hydration and be mindful of sun protection and heatstroke prevention measures.

While the forthcoming rainfall is anticipated to have diminished intensity compared to previous days, authorities advise against venturing into mountainous areas and riversides over the weekend.
