TPP, KMT seek acceptable outcome in election alliance talks (TVBS News)

TAIPEI (TVBS News) —Taiwan People's Party (TPP) presidential candidate Ko Wen-je's campaign director Huang Shan-shan emphasized the party's faith in data science over empty discussions before the meeting between opposition parties Kuomintang (KMT) and TPP on Saturday (Oct. 14) to discuss a possible alliance for the 2024 presidential election.

Key figures at the meeting included Huang, Ko's office director Chou Yu-hsiu, KMT presidential candidate Hou Yu-ih's campaign manager King Pu-tsung, and KMT Secretary-General Justin Huang.

Before the closed-door meeting, Huang stated that while both parties felt some pressure, the TPP decided to engage in dialogues with benevolence and flexibility, emphasizing their faith in data science over empty discussions or formal visits.

The meeting's objective, she stressed, was to negotiate an outcome acceptable to Taiwanese and supporters of both parties.

Huang pointed out that while the "Blue-White Alliance" movement had lasted six months, no clear plan had been proposed. The TPP's proposal and the KMT's positive response were seen as progress.

Pledging to uphold principles of transparency, public debate, and impartial polling, the TPP vowed to fully record and announce the process.

Huang expressed satisfaction at discussing this plan with the KMT, saying it's not a "zero-sum game," and they hoped for a regret-free resolution.
