TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taipei City Fire Department and Taipei City Hospital inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Thursday (Dec. 7) in a strategic move to enhance disaster response and search-and-rescue capabilities.

The MOU, signed by Fire Department Chief Morris Mo and Hospital Superintendent Hsiao Sheng-huang, aims to bolster collaboration between firefighters and medical personnel.

The memorandum outlines key points of cooperation that include regular joint training exercises, combined rescue efforts during major disasters, emergency medical response for mass casualty events, and the development of shared educational programs to be promoted within the community.

Since its establishment in 2005, Taipei City Hospital has become one of the largest medical institutions in Taipei. The hospital is counting on this partnership to not only improve the success rate of rescues and ensure the safety of search-and-rescue teams but also to heighten the overall effectiveness of their operations.

By integrating real-world disaster response with training, fire, and medical services hope to enhance team coordination and achieve a mutually beneficial outcome.
