TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) addressed concerns on Thursday (Dec. 7) regarding Taiwanese writer Lo Sen, who is believed to be detained by Chinese authorities.

According to the MAC, neither Lo Sen nor his family have sought assistance from Taiwanese authorities, including the Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF).

Lo Sen, a Taiwanese author specializing in adult novels, has been missing in China since November of the previous year. Recent reports suggest he has been sentenced to 12 years in prison on charges related to privately publishing pornography.

Deputy Minister Jan Jyh-horng of the MAC pointed out that the CCP has escalated its internal security measures in recent years, resulting in disruptions and limitations on personal freedoms for numerous Taiwanese citizens and foreign businesses operating in China.

The MAC emphasized the importance of Taiwanese citizens registering with the "Mainland Travel Dynamic Registration" system before traveling to China, which would facilitate assistance in case of emergencies.

Jan also highlighted that the SEF continues to receive reports of Taiwanese citizens facing interrogations upon entry into China, often due to reasons such as carrying religious-related books. These incidents, he noted, present significant challenges to cross-strait exchanges.
