TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Uber Eats Taiwan unveiled on Tuesday (Dec. 19) a groundbreaking Green Delivery Program in collaboration with electric scooter company Gogoro, representing an industry-leading initiative to promote sustainability in food deliveries.

The program aims to double the proportion of electric scooters in the Uber Eats delivery fleet from 20% to 40% within two years, aligning with Uber Eats' broader commitment to a green transition in the food delivery sector.

Gogoro's founder and CEO, Horace Luke, highlighted the company's significant role in Taiwan's push for electrification in transportation, with 26% of motorcycle logistics already using Gogoro's swappable battery systems.

Luke emphasized that the partnership aims to offer tailored purchasing and battery subscription plans for delivery partners to encourage the adoption of green mobility.

Chai Lee, general manager of Uber Eats Taiwan, reiterated the platform's commitment to a green transformation and the goal of achieving zero emissions for global deliveries by 2040.

Vice Minister Lin Chuan-neng of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) expressed government support for Uber Eats' green objectives and mentioned ongoing subsidy policies to bolster such initiatives.
