TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) expressed gratitude on Thursday (April 25) to U.S. President Joe Biden for signing the "Emergency National Security Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2024."

The MOFA views this as a concrete legislative action demonstrating the U.S.'s high regard and support for enhancing Taiwan-U.S. security cooperation and maintaining peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

The act includes various security initiatives for Taiwan and other countries in the Indo-Pacific region, providing crucial financial resources for military aid to Taiwan and strengthening the U.S.'s role in maintaining peace and stability in the region.

The foreign ministry pointed out that Taiwan, as a reliable partner in the international community fulfilling its responsibilities, will continue to promote various national defense reforms in accordance with national policy, enhancing its self-defense capabilities.

On the 45th anniversary of the enactment of the "Taiwan Relations Act," the MOFA will continue to strengthen close cooperation with the U.S. and other like-minded countries to jointly defend the status quo in the Taiwan Strait and the region's peace, stability, and prosperity.
