OSAKA (TVBS News) — The Japanese dance group Avantgardey, known for its enigmatic performances, has deep ties with Taiwan. After dancing several times through Taiwanese streets, they will perform at the National Taiwan University Sports Center for the first time from June 28 to 30.

Sporting sisterly hairstyles and identical red lips, Avantgardey, from Megumi High School's dance department, plans to launch their Asian tour in Taiwan with ticketed performances. The group's precise, poker-faced dance moves captivate audiences across Asia.

"Insight People," a TVBS show, traveled to Osaka to meet the group's founder and choreographer Akane. Brimming with confidence, Akane shared her anticipation for the tour, promising a performance infused with Taiwanese culture. "Both the moves and expressions are very unique, with a sense of mystery," she stated.

Akane explained the challenges of coordinating a large group, noting the increased risk of collisions and the unique opportunities it presents. "As a large group, we can accomplish what others can't," she remarked, highlighting their ability to create captivating dances up close and from a distance.

In November 2023, Avantgardey visited Taiwan to film the documentary "WE ARE Our New Year's Eve." They performed in Dadaocheng to the tune of Wang Caihua's "Bao Bi" and visited Taipei's Hsia Hai City God Temple. Their performance video on Instagram has amassed over 4 million views.
